Synopsis
Reading Bryan Stevenson’s Just Mercy: A Story of Justice and Redemption is an eye-opening experience like no other. I had no idea what to expect. Little did I know how this book would change my view on justice forever, specifically for the United States criminal justice system. From the perspective of activist lawyer Bryan Stevenson, Just Mercy writes to inspire readers. Despite countless stories of victims being made out to be criminals, in Just Mercy, he presents a kind of hope within a sea of darkness. This hope involves “changing the narrative,” as Bryan Stevenson famously says (Bryan A. Stevenson, Johns Hopkins University's 2018, 11:17). By writing this review, I hope to supply people with enough information to decide for themselves that Just Mercy is an important book to read.
